SEO is Search engine Optimization. Off Page SEO refers to improving your Websites standings by making the search engines believe that your site has authority, that other sites link to your site to get information and that people around the web know about your wsite, talk about it and follow it. In many cases the Search Engines look at the number of backlinks and the quality of backlinks to your website to determine this.

Backlinks are links from other websites back to YOUR Website. Backlinks have Anchor Text which is the text people click on to  go  to your site from the other site. THe search engines look at the anchor text to see if the words(they should be KEYWORDS) describe the content of your website. This is why using Keywords on your web pages and your page URL's and thru out your WP Themes is so important!

Backlinks are a Critical part of Off Page SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more value to Website's that have a good number of quality backlinks (meaning backlinks that come from a relevant, popular Website), and consider those Website's more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query. In English good quality backlinks can help get you ranked higher in the search engine results when someone searches on a keyword or phrase related to your Website.

How to Add Backlinks for Off Page SEO Posts and Pages – How do you get them?

There are many ways to get backlinks to your WP Themes posts and pages:

1) You can pay a service to go out and "build backinks for you" but the old adage "you get what you pay" for is really true here. Many such services use bots to get you backlinks on hundreds or thousands of no value unrelated sites. Or they use people to do the same thing with the same net result – pretty much nothing. SO DO NOT DO THIS

2) You can pay a lot of money for page links from front pages of high PR sites (PR is the page rank of a site. Measured in 0-10. It measures the relative importance that Google assigns to a site). This works but can be very expensive AND if Google figures out that you are buying links it will penalize your site and your pages will suddenly disappear from the search results SO DO NOT DO THIS!

3) You can manually make your own backlinks by a combination of:

• 1) Article submitting (sending articles with links back to your site to article submission sites.
• 2) Posting  on Forums with backlinks back to your site. This works real well if you take the time to post on sites that are about the same subject as your site. It also has the benefit of getting people who are interested in your blogs or websites subjects or products to click on your link and bring traffic in on their own. But it is VERY  time consuming
• 3) Creating comments on website posts with backlinks to your site.

This works well but takes a lot of time and you must continue to do it month after month which drains time from improving your site, adding fresh content amd monetizing your site to make MONEY!!

4) You can get an AUTOMATED tool to create backlinks. The advantage here is you get a system that can create backlinks for you whenever you want and you usually only pay once for the tool. But they stil require a small amount of work for set up, tunning etc. Here are two of my favorites (I use Auto backlink bomb all the time).

In this article, LSI Keywords, we tell you what Latent Semantic indexing, or LSI, is. How Google uses LSI technology and latent semantic analysis in an algorithm to determine what your website is about and how you can use LSI Keywords and Synonyms for Search Engine Optimization to get higher search engine rankings. Really the term is LSI, Latent Semantic Indexing or LSA Latent Semantic Analysis.

I am using the Term LSI Keywords because:

LSI Keywords and Latent Semantics Indexing Definition

Latent Semantics Indexing is based upon the fact that words that are used in the same context tend to have the same meaning. If there is enough similarity in the text of a Web page to the keywords in the title etc, then Googles ranking Algorithm Model determines that the web page in question really is focused on the keywords

AND most importantly to you, this means that Google will return your web page higher up in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) in response to a users query for that keyword!

So LSI is a method for indexing a website that Google uses that is often referred to as LSI Keywords.  Search engines use this  to analyze the keywords and content of websites to derive the true content and focus of the websites rather then just relying on a list of keywords that are populated thru out a website.

LSI Keywords – why do the search engines care about this?

This is part of the evolution of Search Engines Algorithms as they try and return the best website for a users keyword search in a search engine.

Many years ago people would try to put the best keywords possible in the Keyword Meta Tag field and that helped get ranking> Then that was quickly abused and search engines no longer trusted that solely. Remember people only use a search engine if it will give them the information they want. If you search on dogs and the search engines kept bringing back porno or spam sites you would quickly switch to another search engine. So the search engines want to find the best sites possible for the keywords you are searching for.

As the web evolved the search engines moved to looking for the keyword in the heading tags and in the body but again people quickly moved to "Keyword Stuffing" and all kinds of keyword games to fake out the search engines.

So now the search engines like Google are using Latent Semantics Indexing to try to analyze the keywords and synonyms on a page to determine if the content truly relates to the keywords and then the Search Engines Index the page according to the result!

LSI Keywords – How you can use LSI Keywords for On Page SEO for better search engine rankings and free organic traffic.

You are doing On Page SEO When

• You optimize a blog post or website page so that the search engines can best understand what the page is about and send traffic there. LSI Keywords are a way to do this better.
• When you optimize the page for a specific keyword phrase so that the search engines rank your page high up in the results pages when people search on that keyword phrase. LSI Keywords REALLY helps here.

Free Organic Traffic is

What people call traffic (the people) sent to your site by the search engines that you did not pay for. You do on page SEO to try and get more of this free organic traffic.

How to use LSI Keywords to do on page SEO and get Free Organic Traffic:

Clearly you still need to use your keywords and Keyword Phrases (you can click on thsi link to read an article on a high quality reasonably priced Keyword Tool)

But in addition to that you want to use related Synonyms and other words concerning the same topic to convince Google that your site is really  based around the subject on the keyword and really not just trying to rank highly for a common keyword so they can sell people Viagra!

By writing your article or post using the keywords and the related words that LSI says you should (hence the term LSI Keywords), you can both help the search engines find and rank your page better (you are improving the on page SEO) but you can also write articles that your readers find easier to understand because you are using various words on the same subject to refine your article rather then trying to awkwardly jam in the same keyword over and over!

Great! Lots of use of the main Keyword Phrase right?.

Content is where the rubber hits the road!

• Your content must relate to the keywords that you are targetting. You can't fool the search engines and if you could it would take more work then is required to give them what they want: Value adding information of a given subject.

This really helps. 1) Do do keyword research – meaning do understand what words and phrases people use when searching for products or information that you have or want to have on your blog or Website. Click on this link to read a basic tutorial on Keyword Research

I suggest that if you spend money one place you spend it on a quality keyword software system like Keyword Elite 2.0 or Keyword research pro. Here is a link to a review of Keyword Elite 2.0 and Here is a link to a review of Keyword research Pro.

3) Do try to focus each page on one or 2 keywords or keyword phrases

4) Do use the keywords in the page title and sprinkled thru out the article on that page.

5) Do Use a quality wordpress keyword plugin like Keyword Statistics to understand what your page contains from a keyword sense and to generate the title, Description and Keyword Meta tags

6) Don't sweat the keyword meta tag as most of the big search engines don't drive off it any more.

7) Do Make sure your title and description have your keyword(s) that you want to focus on that page.

Don't try to put every keyword you found on your main page. You won't get ranked for them all and it will just be a waste of time.

9) Don't Try to focus on the keywords with the most searches per month. If your blog or Website is new there is no way you will get in the first 10 pages of the Google search results for a keyword with 40,000 searches per month if you are not an SEO Expert.

10) So Do focus on lesser used terms and long tailed keywords. For example instead of trying to get ranked #1 on Google for Dogs. What about trying to get a page #1 on Google for "Great dogs for kids".

Most people refer to this as a “Niche Market”.  The questions you need to be able to answer BEFORE Starting your Website are the following:

• What is your site going to be about?
• What is its purpose (to make friends, to make money, to tell the world something important?)
• Who is your audience?
• Why will they come to your Website?
• What are their Needs?
• What will make them come back?
• Who are your competitors?

You need to decide how important this project is to you

• How much time are you willing to spend on your Website to start it up?
• And daily and weekly after that?

• If you want to spend the bare minimum then be honest with yourself.

You Need to do Keyword Research before writing content

When I said that you needed to understand what language people use when searching for information or products in your niche market what I was referring to is doing “Keyword Research” . Chances are when you go to Google or yahoo to search for a product or information you type in 1-4 words.  Those are Keywords. That is what the search engines use to find the information you are looking for. If they don’t do a good job then you will use a different search engine next time you search, so they try to find exactly what you are looking for.

For example If I am looking for information on a black Labrador retriever I would type in the key words “information  Black Labrador Retriever”.  The Search engine will try to find sites that have information on black Labrador retrievers.

Therefore if I have a Website about black Labrador retrievers then  I want to make sure that I have keywords That tell the search engine that I have information on black Labrador retrievers. The more convinced that the search engines are that your site is the best site to fill the need  for “Information on Black Labrador Retrievers” the higher your site will be on the list of the results they show the searcher and the more people that will click on the link to your site and they more targeted traffic your Website will get.

What I have just defined for you is Niche Marketing, Keyword Research and Search Engine Optomization all in a dozen sentences. So how hard can it be? Easy right?

You need to Create valuable content.

OK, now that you know what your niche market is and the keywords that you need, it is time to write articles, blog entries, stories, etc, for your Website or blog that will give people that are interested in your niche to come to your Website and read your articles and then want to stay around and read some more, either because they like it, they want to know it, they find it interesting, whatever. Hopefully all of the above!

For each new article you should decide what it will be about and what keyword(S) you want to make sure that you are getting across. If it is about training black labs then make that the title. And refer to that term for clarity whenever possible. Just throwing the term “training black labs” around  a hundred times in a nonsense article will just piss people off and they won’t come back.Yes some people do this as they just want people to get to their site, as many as possible, so that they will hopefully click on an ad and make them some money. But it is a poor plan if you want to make money over time.

Your Website is like an investment. The more you put into it over time the more valuable it will become. That value can be thru getting your message out to more and more people or it can be thru selling more and more stuff. The value is created by the age of the site, the quality of the information, the amount of other sites that link into it over time, etc. This raises the page rank in the search engines and you get more and more traffic.

Try to fool the search engines and they, and the people, will eventually figure it out and your Website will never increase in value.

Use WordPress if your Website is a blog (ITS FREE) and learn the plugins to start with.

One reason WordPress is so great is that it has hundreds of free “Plugins”. Plugins are tools that lets your Website do cool or important things. For example. Want your Website to create an XML Sitemap (this is a map that tells the search engines whats on your Website and where so they can come check it out)

SAY YES to wanting a sitemap. OK. Just automatically download and click install on the “Google XML Sitemap Plugin”

.A Website that looks sharp with great features is a competitive advantage

Pick a Website design that makes sense. If You are using WordPress there are plenty of Website designs  (Called Themes) for any occasion. Don’t use a hi tech modern design if you want to write about ancient Egypt.

You can get free themes from the free wordpress download. You can also buy a professionally designed theme. I have used both but hands down the professionally designed ones are the best. They look better and have more options that you can configure to make your theme the way you want it to be.

You need to Optimize your Website for the Search Engines (SEO BABY!)

OK. I gave you a preview of SEO earlier and there really is a lot more to it than just keywords and articles. BUT if you use wordpress you are at an advantage. You can install the platinum SEO plugin for free and it will do a GREAT job of handling SEO for you. Also there is the  SEO smartlinks plugin for wordpress  as well.

BUT automation is not a substitute for knowledge. We will be posting a article just on SEO in a few days (But most people consider SEO keyword research and placement. But it goes way beyond that).

You need to create a sitemap and submit your site to the search engines

With WordPress if you want your Website to create an XML Sitemap (this is a map that tells the search engines whats on your Website and where so they can come check it out) whenever you add a new post or article you can do so with the “Google XML Sitemap Plugin”.   Just automatically download  the plugin from the “add Plugin” option within wordpress and you are on your way (OK you have to click install and then go into the options to do a few settings).

Also, go into the “Pages” option and create a page called “Site Map”. Don’t put anything in it. Almost all of the WordPress themes will include this with the pages in the header so people will see it and the site map generator plugin will fill the page with a link to all the articles posts and categories that are on your Website so people can look around easier.

Remember, you can have the best information in the world on your Website but

• If no one can find the site it does no good.
• If the people who find your site were looking for something else it does no good
• If once the people get there the site has useless or copied information it will do little good
• And if People have to much trouble getting around your site it will do no good!

You need to submit your site to directories, and to social bookmarking sites and promote it for BACKLINKS and that will help get you the “link juice”(as some like to callit) and that will help get your site MORE TRAFFIC!

But  doing all of this can be a pain in the butt. It is a slow and tedious process.

I recommend using Miracle traffic Bot because it is automated and does it all. As I state elsewhere on this site I have personally spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on different products that don’t do any of this as well as Miracle traffic Bot. You need to keep working your site Content! Submissions! Links!

Once you have done all this you won’t get the traffic overnight. It takes a while for the search engines to “crawl” your site, and start sending you traffic and for people to start clicking on the articles that you submitted to the article sites and to the links you submitted to the directories.

In the mean time keep writing new and interesting articles. If you purchased Keyword Research Pro you can keep using it to find keyword phrases to write focused articles around. If you are using Miracle traffic Bot you can keep submitting articles etc.

You can also start to tweak your website. Learn how to add pictures. Learn that you can add keywords to the picture descriptions and names to add more relevance to your site.  Browse the Plugin directory for more cool plugins and experiment to improve your site.

Get the Easy Google Analytics plugin, get a google analytics code and start tracking your website with google analytics. It will tell you how many people are going to your website and what keywords they use to get there etc. Just go to www.google.com/analytics and follow their instructions

A reader sent me this Video and I thought I would share it. While the information is pretty basic, some people will watch a video rather then read an informative article so I thought I would include it in the hopes that it gives some people the basics and that might motivate them to read some of our articles on Keyword Research, Keyword Software Tools and SEO.

OK, a little more about this Keyword Research Video interview of Christine Churchill. In the video, Byron Gordon, SEO-PR, interviews Christine Churchill, a highly regarded expert, on both how to do keyword research and why it is so important for SEO. In a nutshell the Text consists of keywords, says Christine, and it goes right back to how people are searching the Web. Christine says if you don't have your bog posts, videos, and Website all optimized for keywords that are relevant to you and can bring you traffic, you wont be found on the Web. Christine goes on to describe the elements of keyword research and describes effective keyword tools, including Wordtracker and wordstream.

I am a fan of Wordtracker and Word Stream, they have a lot of tools but it is way overcomplicated and pricey for the average blogger, You are much better off with a single good quality tool Like Keyword Research Pro or Keyword Elite. If you can't afford one then learn the process by reading articles and get by with some of the free tools like Googles Keyword Tool.

Speaking of which here is a link to a list of cool Free Google Tools and links. Click on it and bookmark it. They are must have items in your tool chest and they are free!.

OK here is a really great video about Keyword research, seo and basic web SEO.

I really like this as a beginner video as it is clear and to the point.
It starts off by telling you why SEO, and Keyword research is important. It also defines the terms it uses so if you are new to this it isn't a confusing waste of time.

Worth noting is that he shows about 4 different free tools for doing keyword research> but note that, even with all these tools, he just scratches the surface when it comes to keyword research, analysis and SEO for a niche market, especially when compared to a quality keyword research software system. Hey you get what you pay for right?

You can do it his way, hopping from free tool to free tool and do half of the analysis you really need, or you can by a keyword software tool like Keyword Research Pro, and do all of it, everything you need and twice as much as your competitors who only use the skimpy free tools, do.

But Remember this is an introductory video and does not go very deep into a lot of the subjects.

But it DOES give you some action items that you can implement right away to get going on how to do keyword research and how to optimize your blog for the search engine (SEO = Search Engine Optimization)

OK Here is a great beginners guide to SEO in a video tutorial form. Once again, I always recommend that everyone read and watch everything they can on SEO, keyword research, keyword analysis, niche markets and SEO!

But this SEO video is really good. It covers all of the basics from defining just what the heck Search Engine Optimization is, what "Organic Results" are, what is meant by Keyword Research, Pay per Click, Competitor analysis, etc.

Now that I think about it, so many people just think that Keyword Analysis is just keyword research. Take all the hoopla around the  Google wonder wheel. Heck, thats just brain storming. And most peoples Keyword Research will just get them keywords that hopefully are representative of search terms that people use when searching for products or information in their Niche Market.

But what about your competition? Yes, you may find a keyword with 1.5 million searches a month. but how many Website are competing for search engine ranking on that one Keyword term? What are your chances with a new Website, of ever seeing the first page of Google for that term?

That is why this video on Search Engine Optimization so good. It gets down to basics like this, and I love to say this line, "But wait, Theres more"
