Anyone who wants to drive traffic to their blog or Website needs to understand the basics of keyword research. It is not just about selecting a few keywords, using them in your Website name and then having traffic start flowing to your Website.

There is need for you to do a thorough and prolonged keyword research in order to evaluate the campaign of your competitors, creating a list of keywords for the niche of your choice and discovering new niches or even the product of your choice.

As someone who is into these, I must tell you that keyword research takes a lot of time but it is worth it! Without a Keyword Research technique and strategy to follow you will never get the targeted traffic volume for your Internet business, niche or campaign. It is hard to do on your own,. With no experience it can be even harder. But if you use a keyword research tool, you are assured of getting your result in a fast manner and most importantly you will get the targeted and less competitive in the niche of your choice.

All over the Internet, there are varieties of Free and paid for keyword research tool, some of them are:

Keyword research Pro

Googles AdWord Analyzer,

WordTracker,

Keyword Elite,

Micro Niche Finder

or even HitTail, etc.

But the question here is: are the paid ones worth your hard earned money and will the free ones do a good enough job?

The fact is that people just starting out get it all backwards. They think that they can get by with a free keyword research tool "Until they Learn the ropes". The problem with this is that the keyword research is the foundation of your business. That is exactly where you need to invest time and money. Once you learn the ropes AND become and expert you will realize that not using the tools is a waste of time and future earnings.

BUT Investing your money into some keyword research tool can be a waste of money and time if you have not done the background work first (No there is no magic bullet. No one can do everything for you):

1) Have you identified your niche market? – one size does not fit all if you want quality traffic!

2) Have you identified what your blog's or Website's purpose is in that market?

3) Do you know why people will come to your Website?

4) Do you know what lingo people use when talking about your niche market?

5) .Do you know how you want to monetize (make money off) of you market?

6) Do you know what kind of content you will create for your blog (written, video, robot generated, RSS Feeds, etc)?

Once you can answer these questions you will have the basic focus for your blog to start to learn how to keyword research techniques.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you use a keyword Research System like Keyword Research Pro. The top FREE keyword tools out there)

No matter if you choose a paid for keyword research software system like keyword research Pro or choose to use a combination of free tools and experience and time, the fact is that you need to do one or the other! If you are into article marketing, Pay Per Click advertising, AdSense or SEO or even affiliate marketing, you need this software in order to increase your web traffic and skyrocket your earning.

OK lets talk specifically about HOW TO Keyword research techniques: and Strategies

STEP 1) Do they background Niche Market Research!

Assuming you are into marketing a niche about an acne product.

you have researched the market by doing Google searches and going to competitor websites. At least a dozen.

you have read their articles and clicked on some of the advertisements to see what is being sold in the marketplace.

You have watched some of the acne HOW TO videos and understand what people talk about when talking about acne products.

And you have decided that you want to focus your site on "Acne Cures"

GREAT! You have done the background necessary to start your keyword research process!

Step 2) Start to do the keyword research technique

Let's say you want perform a keyword research search using the keyword "cure acne".

Most people will just plug in the keyword "cure acne" in the search box for the keyword . As someone who is very experienced in this, the best way to get the top keywords out of this is to simply plug in the keyword "acne" in the search box. It will return similar keywords that pertains to acne both relevant and irrelevant ones.

You should keep a pen and paper by your side for this. Glance through the result of the acne and select the words that pertain to curing acne like cure acne, treat acne, stop acne, fight acne, acne remedy, acne relieve, deal with acne, overcome acne and acne help etc.

These keywords listed above are the keywords for solving a problem, avoid keywords like symptoms of acne, causes of acne etc. Though they are useful, as you are marketing a product about the remedy of a disease it is better to be more targeted here. Still plug the keywords I listed above.

If you continue plugging the keywords and searching them you will end up getting long tail keywords (this is a list of keywords that go from most common to least common,. the least common ones are the "tail" of the list. But they often add a lot of traffic to your Website because there is little competition for them,.

Step3) Without an advanced tool your choices are limited where you go from here

It is a good idea to manually bounce your list of keywords off some other search engine besides Google.

This will refine the list a little,.

Check Google adwords and look at competition for pay per click keyword terms. this is a must if you plan to do pay per click advertising. it also gives a hint as to keyword usage by your competition

Also use a combination of the 5 free tools listed in the article mentioned at the start of this article to get a feel for current keyword usage vs older keyword usage. This will help you spot emerging trends. This is a GREAT way to get some keywords with low competition that are just becoming popular.

For example, today is may 4th 2010, and if your Website focused on the oil industry then adding the keywords "dome" or "Oil dome" might be a good way to get some traffic that would have been meaningless a few weeks ago (this is due to BP's efforts to decrease the amount of oil leaking into the gulf of Mexico from a massive oil well bow out by constructing a dome to place under the ocean over the well).

Step4) Plan how you will use your Keywords

The final step of your strategy is implementing it! Many people fail on this last step.

DO NOT try to put all your keywords in every article!

DO make sure that you main page has a description the defines the niche with the core keywords'

Do make sure that you focus each article on one or two keyword phrases.

Do make sure that those keywords are in the title and description.

Do make sure that you use them through out the article where it makes sense

DO NOT use them so much that the article is a pain to read. The Search engines will not be fooled.

Do add more the one article per keyword phrase

DO group the articles by keyword phrase within categorizes that contain the keyword in the name

DO link to the other articles from within articles where it makes sense.

DO use the keyword statistics plugin in wordpress and learn how to use it

Do use the All in one SEO plugin in wordpress and learn how it worked

DO use relevant article tags with the keywords in them

Do keep the content original

Do add more content on a regular basis

Do continue to check the keyword tools for more fresh ideas every once in a while!

.

Step

Incoming search terms for the article:

<a

Another commonly used free keyword tool is the free version of Wordtracker which gives up to 100 related keyword phrases for any keyword you enter. But there are some lesser known keyword research tools which should be used for all your market research.

Wordtracker is a great tool, but there is actually a newer free version that makes the normal free version obsolete. This new version is called the Free GTrends Tool, which is basically the old tool with the addition of a Google Trends graph. There will be a link beside each result which leads to this graph, plus the statistics for the approximate number of competing pages and amount of daily traffic. This tool makes it easy to identify profitable keyword phrases because it shows you the results while recommending less than 30000 competing pages and more than 100 unique visitors per day with the results so you know instantly whether the keyword phrase is profitable or not. Not only profitable, but easy to dominate as well.

Keyword Browse is a free keyword tool that is less commonly known. While it does not provide numbers like its counterparts, it is probably the best tool out of the group for niche identification. All that is needed is for you to enter a broad search term such as “wine”. The tool will split that niche into two strands (looks like a DNA double-helix without the rungs). One strand will be related keywords and the other one is sub-niches within your given keyword. “Wine” turns out results such as “wine making”. “Wine making” turns out results such as “home wine making” and “wine making kit” which in turn give results such as “home wine making and recipe”.

So while the Google keyword tool is an excellent and accurate tool for market research, it is essential that anybody conducting such research use the aforementioned. The time that will be saved will be invaluable to your business and the sub-niches that you find will be easy to dominate using some simple search engine optimization.

By: Curtis Ng

Keyword Research – How Do You Find Good Keywords

Keywords Software Articles

Amazon

Keyword Ideas

Marketers

Niches

Phrase
<guid

If you are aren’t using keyword research, you should be. If you don’t know how, this article will help you learn how to find good keywords.

What are good keywords?

Everyone throws around the term keyword research, and find good keywords, the problem is most beginning marketers and online entrepreneurs don’t know what those terms mean, or how to do them! At the most basic keyword research is the process of finding words or phrases that are relevant to your site that you can rank well in the search engines for.

A good keyword is a word or phrase that people are actually using in the search engines to find information. You also want to make sure your word or phrase is competitive, but not so much so that you can not beat the other sites competing for this keyword.

Where do I find good keywords?

Finding good keywords is a process. It starts out with brainstorming. You can start with looking at your site. What does your site offer? What do you want your site to be known for? You can do some thinking on these topics before you even start a site and will be ahead of the game.

If you are looking for profitable things to write about you can also check at Amazon, see what the popular things are there. You can also use their categories to start some keyword research and find some tight niches to write about.

Another brainstorming technique, if you are starting out, and don’t have a website it to just look around. Niches are everywhere. Write down every little thing you can see from right where you are. You should be able to build a list at least a page long by doing this.

Once you have some keyword ideas from this brainstorming you are going to take them to the next step which is evaluating these options to see if they are good keywords.

How do I know I have chosen good keywords?

This is a two step process. You want to evaluate both search volume and competition. To evaluate search volume (the amount of people actually using your chosen keyword in search engines) you will need some tools. These tools will show you how many people are searching, and depending on the tool you choose a lot more. You can get started at the source itself, Google. Google now provides search volume on it’s Adwords Keyword Tool.

Take the ideas you’ve come up with and enter them in the search box within the keyword tool. The results will come back, not only for your keyword, but many other suggestions Google will find for you. You want to find keywords with at least 50 searches a day, and of course more searches is fine.

Make sure you take a note of the keywords you find with a good search volume. We’ll take those to the second stage of this process, which is the level of competition.

How much is too much competition?

Competition in keywords is a funny thing. You definitely want some competition. It means people are making money on that keyword. You don’t want too much competition though, or you won’t be able to beat them in the search engine rankings.

So take a look at your keywords in Google. You want to see how many competing pages there are (with your keyword in quotes) you also want to check the page rank of the top listed sites. Another variable you want to measure is the number of links the top sites have. These are the elements you will be competing with these sites on, so you want to make sure you can beat them.

As you can see finding good keywords is a process. It seems complicated and can be overwhelming, but doing good keyword research is the best way to get organic search traffic from the major search engines. Once you know how to do keyword research you can use the information in every aspect of your business, whether it’s building websites, writing posts on blog, writing articles. You name it, and you can use keyword research to increase your business.

By: Jackie Lee

Incoming search terms for the article:

<a
