Keywords and SEO, What you need to know now!

Before worrying about Keywords and SEO you MUST Understand your Market, Your Niche, Your Blog audience

Before you can develop a list of words and phrases for Keywords and SEO you need to understand what people search for when they enter a search into Google or Yahoo when they want information like what is in your Blog or Website. To figure this out you can

  • Start by actually entering words and phrases about your blog or Website into Google and checkout the search results. Is are they what you expected? While you are at it, check out the competitions websites to see what they are talking about.
  • Use the Google Adwords free keyword suggestion tool (see the article link a few bullet points down from here to access it). Enter some of the keywords and phrases in there and see how often people search on them every month. See the different variations that the Keyword Tool shows you.
  • Continue to check out other websites that you find on the same subject and learn the lingo they and the users use. Read the blogs and the comments.
  •  Go to this web page which has links to a lot of FREE Google tools that will help you do this; http://wordpress-how-to-wp.com/Google-keyword-tool-links-and-seo-tools-links-and-information

Develop a list of Target Keywords that you wish to use for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

There are a few places where you should spend money on your blog this is one of them. An automated  keyword Software System will give you a huge advantage over the competition when it comes to SEO and getting free traffic from the search engines.:

Whatever the tool you should do these basic keyword and SEO steps

Find relevant keyword and keyword phrase niches

Group closely related keywords into related primary and secondary keyword pairs that you could focus one page on

Then Evaluate your keyword and Keyword phrase niches for SEO potential. Click on this link for an article on Keyword Research and evaluation in 6 simple steps: http://www.keywordsoftwareguide.com/6-keyword-research-steps

Then Prioritize your keyword and Keyword Phrases that you want to use in your posts and articles

Then Focus on building a page of content for each keyword or phrase.

Each Page should focus on 1 to 2 Keywords and related SEO

Your page will be targeting many more than those two keywords – they are your starting point and your focus

    • To get started, target each page’s SEO on a primary and secondary keyword.
    • Don't try to jam your entire keyword list into your home page you WILL NOT get ranked for all those keywords and without a focus, Google will most likely place no emphasis on the page at all!
    • Don’t make the common mistake of initially using different pages to target the same keywords.  It may seem hard not to if your Website is on a given subject. But even then you want to target unique phrases for each phrase. IF you run out of phrases and keywords from your original research list you can always do more keyword research and market niche research and add to your list.

When it Comes to Keywords and SEO Use your target keywords and Phrases in these specific places

Use your primary and secondary target keywords in the following positions on your page:

For your Keywords and SEO efforts to work, you need content that is interesting and related

Content is where the rubber hits the road!

    • Your content must relate to the keywords that you are targetting. You can't fool the search engines and if you could it would take more work then is required to give them what they want: Value adding information of a given subject.
    • The search engines nowadays do contextual analysis and if the heading and keywords do not flow with the content they will be ignored. page will be targeting many more than those two keywords – they are your starting point and your focus
    • Try to write 1000 words, no less then 200 or it will be ignored. The focus should be on your primary and secondary keyword. But sprinkling in long tailed keywords from your keyword list will give the site more "Juice" and more opportunity to getr ranked for related keywords.
    • The Content should be informational and easy to read. If its not, even if you get people there, they will just leave and never come back.
    • Add value. For example this article gives links to free tools and related information saving the readers time. Give your readers what they are looking for and Google will send more readers your way and they will all come back! And that is what you want from Keywords and SEO!

Keyword Research Basic Tutorial and Keyword Research Info

Keyword research is the process of determining which keyword phrases will describe your Website's products and/or services and are actually used in web searches. Keyword Research is insight into the needs of your customers or clients. Bottom line it is finding out what Internet surfers are actually searching for.

Doing  Keyword Research sounds easy but Choosing keywords or keyword phrases can be very confusing for new site owners. Worse yet mistakes made in this pphase could doom the new website to obscurity befor it even gets off the ground!  If you don't have keyword or keyword phrases optimized on your web site, you will not get the traffic you want and individuals will not stay on your site, read your information or buy you service or product.

Keyword research can be broken down into a three step process.
    1) The first step is the discovery phase. Many people use the term "Niche Marketing"  when defining what your market is and isn't. the discovery phase of Keyword research is where you really define what your Website or blogs "Niche" is AND how you intend to exploit that Niche. In the Discovery phase your goal is to be able to answer the questions "What is my Website about"? "Why will people want to come to my Website"? What makes it unique? "What  search terms do people use when searching for information, products and services in my Niche?

In this step of  Keyword Research  you want to focus on identifying as many keywords or Keyword phrases as possible.

Initially you need to sit down and brainstorm a list of keyword/keyword phrases that address the topic of your web site. Have a dictionary and thesaurus handy. At this point include every word or phrase that you can think of. Note that there are automated tools that make this instant and easy. Click here to read our review on Keyword Elite 2.0 it automates this and will generate your highly targeted lists for you> it is worth there asking price times 10. check it out.

Don't forget to use multiple search engines when doing keyword research and in the discovery phase. Do searches on yahoo, Google and Bing. See whose Website come up for different keywords and what their content is.

There are several keyword research tools that are available to help you generate a keyword list. Some of these tools are free such as Google Keywords and Google Adwords Tool, while others such as WordTracker are fee based. With these tools you will be able to generate hundreds of keyword phrases.

    2) The second step in Keyword research is the analyzing phase. This step involves analyzing the popularity and competition for the keyword phrases. The quickest way to perform the analysis is to use one of the fee based keyword tools like Keyword Research Pro or Keyword Elite 2.0 as mentioned above..

The automated tools are able to quickly take your list of keyword phases and give you the number of searches in the past 30 days and the number of competitive web sites for each phrase. These keyword Search tools also supplies aa variety of other features that helps determine the competitiveness of a keyword phrase and this is vital in determining wether you want to pursue that keyword or keyword phrase,

There are plenty of free tools out there but they are not automated and will require you to move the data from tool to spreadsheet to other tools by hand as you try to analyse the keyword list, competitive data, etc.  This will allow you to make comparisons between various keyword phrases and do away with any unrelated or undesirable keyword phrases.

    3) The third step is the selection of keyword phrases. From your analysis phase, you should be able to identify a number of high quality keyword phases that can accurately describe the qualities of your Website.

In your final selection of keyword phases you need to look for phrase that have a high level of search activity, while the level of competitiveness is relatively low. For making your final selection of 15-20 keyword phrases you will want to do a Google search on the keyword phrases and view the top web sites listed for each phrase. Are the sites professionally designed? Can you design a web page that can move up into the top ratings for this keyword phrase?

When starting a new web site it's highly recommended to target only one unique keyword phrase per page. With your newly researched keyword list you can write your content with a balanced use of unique phrases that will help generate traffic to your web pages.

Note: You should use that kleyword phrase in the title at the front of the title of the page and when the page is complete and you ciew it online, check the source (Right click the mouse on the webpage and click on view source) and make sure that there is a Meta tag called "Title" and that the title with the keyword to the front is shown there. If not you need to make sure that you either puir it there or if you are using wordpress use a plugin like Keyword Statistics to help you get this right. You can click on this link to go to a website called www.wordpress-how-to-wp.com which gives all klinds of info like this to new bloggers for free.

Note that you should also put that keyword phrase in the Desscription several times in a readable english like manner. Then check the description meta tag as you did the title meta tag above! The title and description are what show up in the search engines when people enter a keyword to search on. So even if you come up first in google, people won't click on your link if the title and description meta tags do not sound like they have the information they are searching for!

Note that if you REALLY want to do keyword research correctly and dominate your niche, you should take a look at Keyword Software Pro. It is the best Keyword Software system out there and will do more things for you then I can name here. Check out this software review for Keyword Research Pro by clicking on this link

Keyword ’select – Do Keyword Research and Keyword Selection Right And You Will Get Free Traffic From Google Forever

Keyword 'select is the basis of SEO. If you get your keyword research and Keyword Select right, Google and Yahoo and MSN will send you all the traffic you want. But if you fail do do your keyword research wrong, or select the wrong keywords, your Website will be like a ghost town!!

The Keyword research, Keyword 'select process is not magic and its not really difficult. Using professional grade, automated keyword research and keyword select tools like these two links will show you: Keyword Research Pro or Keyword Elite 2.0 makes it simple, straight forward and it works. You will only get lots of free search engine traffic when you give the search engines what they want. It isn't difficult when you know how, it's just a matter of knowing the steps to take and finding the right keyword to target.

Keyword Research is the first step of the process and is of course crucial if you want to get free search engine traffic

Keyword research involves finding the phrases that your potential customers type into Google when they are looking for information. Before you write anything, you need to discover the phrases you need to target to make sure your site appears on the first page of search results. Keyword research should be the first step before you write any content.

Create a master list of keywords

You could use the Google trends free keyword tool from Wordtracker (Wordtracker has a professional tool that you can buy but it costs way to much for the average person. You are better off with Keyword Research Pro or Keyword Elite 2.0 in the links above if you want a professional automated tool at a reasonable price) or you can use the Free Google keyword tool. Here is a link to an article listing the most popular free keyword tools: CLICK ON THIS LINK TO READ AN ARTICLE INTRODUCING YOU TO 5 FREE KEYWORD RESEARCH TOOLS.

The point is that when you use a keyword research tool, you are aiming to find keywords that have low competition, because they are easier to rank for and that are relevant to your Website and its content and are what people enter into the search engines when they are looking for the type of information of products that your Website carries.

And then you want to make a long list of them to do your Keyword 'select from .

For example, Go to the Free Google Keyword  tool  by clicking on this link (it will pop up in a new window so you don't loose your place here) and type in a broad keyword that describes your niche. The keyword research tool will return the top 100 keywords with that word in them. You will get an estimate of how many searches there are each day.

Click on the Competition button to sort the list of Keywords by competition.

NOTE: THIS IS WHERE 99% of people using the free keyword tools make their critical mistake!
The competition is NOT competition as in how many people use that keyword for their Website it is "The image represents the number of advertisers bidding on each keyword relative to all keywords across Google"  it is advertising competition!

BUT this is a good way to build your keyword brainstorming list. You can download it with Google button in the upper left, save it and use it in your Keyword 'select process .

What makes a good keyword list and what makes good keywords to select? Well if you use a tool like keyword research pro (click on this link  KEYWORD RESEARCH PRO  to read about what they offer) they guide you  thru all that. But basically as long as the keyword phrases is getting some traffic and hasn't got much competition it is a keyword worth targeting because it will be easy to rank on the first page of search results.

Most people make the mistake of targeting keywords that have lots of competition and wonder why they have hardly any visitors to their Website.

When you are starting out, it is much easier to get on the first page of search results when you target multiple keywords that have a relatively small amount of traffic and little competition. The small streams of traffic become a big stream when combined.

Multiple listings on the first page of search results can add up to a lot of traffic, so Keyword Select out a few good keywords that don't have a lot of competition and are easy to get ranked on the first page of search results. and watch your visitor numbers soar.

You can click on our Keyword articles category to read many more articles on how to get started, with more detail, in the keyword research and keyword 'select process.

What is the best seo/Keyword Research software?

"A reader has asked:I'd really like some keyword/SEO software that kind of automates stuff and makes the whole keyword thing simple. i hear wordtracker is great. but in your opinion, whats the must-have keyword-selecting software (or site)?"

I have talked at length about Keyword Selection tools vs Keyword Software Systems in the past And I will try to some up the differences in whats out there for you and anyone else who is interested in obtaining better traffic thru the search engines.

Here are my top nuggets when it comes to Keyword Analysis, Keyword software, SEO and targeted traffic:

    1) Before getting caught up on keywords, understand your market, where you fit in that market, what you want to do in that market, the terminology of that market, your competitors in that market and the realities of ecommerce/affiliate marketing in that market. If you fail to take the time to do this step then you will never have a focused plan for your blog or web business and your success will be greatly limited.

    2) After writing down the answers to the question in 1 (along with your Business Plan for what your goals are and how you want to try to achieve those goals) you can start looking into the wonderful world of SEO and Keywords. To Start you can browse are many many articles on the subject at: http://www.keywordsoftwareguide.com/category/keywords-software-articles.

To make it easy I will give yon some basic KEYWORD LAWS (according to me anyhow):

    1) Researching Keywords with a free tool Like wordtracker or google adwords or whatever is NOT ENOUGH!  If you are serious bout this then you need to invest $50-$100 (you don't need to spend more IMO) on a high quality Keyword Software Toll like Keyword Research Pro.

    2) Keyword Research is not enough because it is more then just finding keywords for your niche. you need to analyze what keywords your competitors are using, you need to understand the competition for the keywords and how often they are used by ALL the major search engines – not just google. Keyword Research Pro Software will help you with all this and a dozen more critical things.

    3) You need to not just analyze the "best" keywords but you need to analyze how they are searched for in phrases so you can use those phrase. 90% of your competitors are just going to try to find the quick top 3 keywords using wordtracker or google or something and try to compete for those words. LET THEM!

    4) While they all try to get ranked for the top 3 words you do the research for phrases and long tailed keywords that everyone else is ignoring so your pages can get rankled as #1 in google for those terms. Again Keyword Research Pro will do this analysis for you in MINUTES not days. So will some of the more expensive packages.

    5) Using Google, wordtracker or even google wonder wheel (puke) is OK for brainstorming if you want to but it is only a small part of the keyword research and analysis stage.

    6) Then you need to learn about all the places on your Website that you can use those keywords. yes there are many more places then just in the articles or in the websites Keywords meta tag. How about with the pictures? How about in the headings, in the file location names and etc. To find out more on this read some of the articles in the link I mentioned above.

    7) Once you have your site up and running use one of the many free Website analysis tools like Google webmaster to analyze where you are ranking for what Keywords. This is ESSENTIAL. You did all the work to understand your market and where you fit in it and your business plan to take a piece of it, You did all the work (allot faster and easier with Keyword Research PRO but still a lot of work) to find the terms and phrases, and then you did all the work to site the articles and implant the keywords and phrases and now you are just going to sit back and wonder why the traffics not coming???

    8) NO! Be smart, use a tool that analyses the traffic to your Website and what terms you rank on what pages for on various search engines and then do the analysis to determine why certain phrase or keywords are not working for you! Again Google analytics and google webmaster are free and a great place to start!!

I could go on and on but this is plenty to start with. Again you can go to the section of our Website that is dedicated to FREE high quality, Keyword Research and SEO articles and get all the information you need on this subject!!

Keyword Research And Analysis Strategies 1: Overview

Good search engine optimization experts perform extensive keyword research and analysis prior to starting any SEO campaign. Much like PPC marketing, obtaining a large list of related keywords gives a search marketer the opportunity to select the most profitable and high traffic terms. Without a large list of keyword phrases, choices for optimization are slim and probabilities for success decline along with it.

Armed with a good research tool (which is usually a paid version), a SEO collects a large subset of related terms in a list and analyzes the competition levels for the ones with higher search traffic first. It is important for web marketers to understand that keyword research tools are not perfect in their data by any means. This is because many of the search tools available gather data from meta search engines. Unless the search tool is directly linked to the actual search engine database and outputs data in it’s entirety, there is always room for possible error since the data collection method is not perfect in itself. For search engines to provide direct access to this data without limitations would be any SEOs dream come true. This, however, is unlikely to happen because the potential for abuse is just too high. There are two ways keyword research tools may not report completely accurate data. First, your tool of choice may output incorrect daily or monthly search traffic. Second, it may not list other keywords that are actually being searched for. Just because the data isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. We can still deduce relative search traffic strengths from the numbers given so you can feel reasonably safe, in general, when viewing traffic potential on relative terms.

Great SEOs, though, are not only looking for the most targeted and relevant search terms but are also seeking keywords and search phrases that have a decent chance of getting ranked in the search engines. Like any marketplace, there are gaps and opportunities which competent SEOs will seek out before expending a large amount of resources on optimizing similar good search phrases. This is because similar, yet relevant, search terms have varying levels of difficulty and competition levels. After collecting a large subset of related terms in a list, a SEO analyzes the keyword competition levels for the ones with higher search traffic first.

For websites starting their optimization, it is highly recommended the internet marketer goes after the low-hanging fruit. Why? This simply means to quickly rank for terms with the least competition levels and reasonable traffic volume. Many inexperienced to the SEO game, naturally lean towards the highest search traffic terms first. This is the single biggest mistake newbies make and sets them up for failure before the SEO campaign even gets started. Let’s say you sell diamond jewelry. An amateur would go for “diamond jewelry” as their first target since this keyword yields a higher number of searches. In most cases, however, the keyword which is the most intuitive is not the one to go after because it is the most generic term for that product. Rather than going after “diamond jewelry”, you have a choice of related terms such as “black diamond jewelry”, “blue diamond jewelry”, “discount diamond jewelry”, “blue diamond wedding jewelry” and so on. Of course, you’d generally only optimize for products you actually sell so as to increase sales conversion and not mislead your visitors. Thus, if you don’t offer “blue diamond jewelry”, you don’t want to go after it unless your expertise as a diamond retailer tells you that black diamonds are far superior to blue diamonds and you are attempting to sway potential buyers of blue diamonds to black diamonds as a strategy.

With a more straightforward approach to optimization, these search terms “black diamond jewelry”, “blue diamond jewelry”, and “discount diamond jewelry” show significantly lower search numbers relative to “diamond jewelry”. These keyword phrases are considered tier two search terms. Jewelry and diamond jewelry are considered tier one search terms. For most niche markets, optimizing for more specific terms and directing the visitor to the related subpage of the website converts a whole lot better than general terms. Therefore, it is a great strategy to go ahead and optimize for these tier two keywords (after you’ve confirmed the competitiveness of the keyword search phrase). By building up traffic for the a bigger basket of lesser competitive terms, you will be able to have the equivalent traffic levels as if you were going after one or two difficult search terms. You’ll reach your goal of getting higher search rankings with faster and with less resources.

There is also another benefit many fail to realize. Notice also that the terms above have the base term “diamond jewelry” in them. As an experienced SEO company, we have found that you are getting credit for the base term even though you aren’t specifically going after it in your inbound anchor link text. Furthermore, in terms of business cashflow, it is going to be much easier to rank the lower search traffic terms first and therefore start getting some sales to generate more profit that can be channeled into the tougher key phrases. Rather than hoping to rank a tougher search term which usually takes longer and costs more, it makes sense to generate profits that can be applied towards further aggressive Internet marketing and ensure that your pool of marketing funds don’t dry up before getting higher search engine rankings. Once you reach the top ten rankings for the tier two or tier three search terms, your attempt to rank your website for tier one terms, jewelry and diamond jewelry or even gold jewelry, will be an easier climb to the top.

We’ll cover how to perform detailed keyword and competition analysis in part two of this article. In the meantime, here are some useful free online keyword tools for starters (search for these terms specifically and the top result will be what you’re looking for):

    WordTracker Free Keyword Tool

    Google Adwords External Keyword Tool
